Course Outline
Coaching in the Context of Work explores the individual in the context of systems (family, work, societal etc), and specifically how coaching supports people in their work and communities. This course will substantially expand the students’ coaching skills, providing a deeper understanding of the impact of the workplace in people’s lives, and
the impact of coaching in the workplace. Students will learn additional tools and practices that enhance their application of the core competencies of a coach, ending this course with a written assignment that addresses the ethics of the coaching profession.
Part 2 Course Objectives
The student will engage in study that leads to the following outcomes:
- Learn critical models of communal and organizational development
- Discover how to establish agreements with a team and maintain a commitment to the growth of the group
- Learn the difference between consulting, training and coaching and how to navigate their appropriate uses
- Practice noticing, acknowledging and exploring the emotions, energy shifts, non-verbal cues or other behaviours of groups
- Learn how to partner with the client to design goals, actions and accountability measures that integrate and expand new learning
- Gain a deeper awareness of how to practice the ICF Code of Ethics
